Mona Frey
President and founder
Born and raised in North Central NJ, studied Sociology at Rutgers University and spent ten years residing in Charlotte, NC before relocating to Chicago in 2005. In 2010 Mona relocated to a family farm in South Central PA.
Experience
Along with numerous jobs in the M&M plant in Hackettstown, NJ, Mona's earliest accounting experience began within each of the A/P and A/R departments at the M&M/ Mars National office while in college. Her retail food industry career began in 1986 at Wakefern Food Corporation, working for six years in the general merchandise/ full service division at its inception, as a distributor representative / retail specialist.
In 1992, Mona began working for a mass market brokerage covering New York metro local grocery, drug and mass merchant accounts.
In late 1993, Mona's career shifted from the mainstream drug and grocery industry into the natural food industry, getting hired to manage and grow the newly created supermarket division of an East Coast Natural food broker called Natural Specialties.
In 1998, Mona left the brokerage business and began working her way up the manufacturing ladder from regional sales manager to Vice President of Sales and Marketing. The list of manufacturers includes a few dynamic companies such as Kashi, Clif Bar, Oregon Chai, and Wild Planet Foods.
From 2006 to 2010 Mona took a break from those roles in natural food industry to create Moonstone Business Solutions. The goal was to bridge the communication gap between the sales and finance departments, utilize the information accounting has at the fingertips and support the sales team in reaching their profitability and sales goals. While residing in downtown Chicago, Mona discovered the business knowledge crossed industries. She created the organizational and operation basis for a company in the parking industry. Starting from scratch, setting up the entire accounting frame work, working with city ordinances, union negotiations, tax proposals, employment contracts, payroll, human resources, credit card processing, invoicing procedures, and more. The company grew from one parking lot and one bar valet, to ten individual lots, 2 condominium contracts, mulitple hotel contracts, and two separate entities (one union, one non union) in under four years.
Mona left parking and Chicago to focus on the consumer products industry in 2011. It was at this time that Moonstone expanded from deduction management and analysis to organizational construction, daily operational support to include but not limited to creating procedure and training programs to the daily tasks of processing orders, accounts payable, accounts receivable and collections. Building the base for either an entrepreneurial start up or an existing companies since 2007.
In summary, Mona's 30 years of industry experience, crossing over many industries, classes of trade and an extensive customer base are unmatched. Her business intuition, analytical and observational skills will result in achievable goals and realistic, sustainable, profits.
